Round Six: How the ISA was used against BSA Tahir to protect the ‘First Family’ (UPDATED with Chinese Translation)

BSA Tahir was detained under the Internal Security Act to avoid charging him in court where the names of all the others involved would surface. His ISA detention was based on the allegation that he acted alone without the knowledge of anyone from SCOMI or SCOPE.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

In its public statement, SCOMI declared that in 2001 it had ventured into the manufacturing of precision engineering products through its wholly owned subsidiary, SCOPE. It then falsely declared that it had secured a contract to supply these components and parts to a Dubai based company. The Dubai based company has denied this and has sent SCOMI a letter protesting that it’s name has been falsely used.

This public announcement proves that SCOMI knew what it was doing and that it was not ignorant of what was going on. It also proves that SCOMI tried to cover its tracks by mentioning the Dubai company instead of Libya as the final destination.

In his statement to the Malaysian Special Branch, CIA and MI6, BSA Tahir denied that he was instrumental in bringing the two foreign engineers or four Libyans to Malaysia for confidential training. BSA Tahir also denied that he had acted alone and that Kamal Abdullah and Shah Hakim @ Shahzanim Bin Zain were equally involved. BSA Tahir also mentions four other key personnel of SCOMI/SCOPE who were involved and that Shah Hakim actually asked them to be discreet about what they were doing.
