Handouts disguised as ‘allowance’ for party machinery an old trick, says Umno Youth

(The Star) – Handing out political bribery, disguised as allowance for party machinery, is an outdated political tactic, says Umno Youth.

Its chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki (pic) said DAP’s claims that the photographs showing a woman clad in a Pakatan T-shirt purportedly handing out money was actually of a party worker giving petrol reimbursements to its volunteers was an outdated political move that could not be accepted at any costs.

“Enough with the lying to the people.

“The statement by DAP claiming that the viral pictures where money was being given to the Orang Asli community was actually payment to the party’s machinery is an outdated political tactic that cannot be accepted at all.

He also questioned what was the difference between Pakatan candidate M. Manogaran and C. Sivarraajh, who won the Cameron Highlands seat for Barisan Nasional in the 14th General Election.

However, Barisan’s victory in the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat in GE14 was nullified when the Election Court found elements of corruption during campaigning for the constituency.

“If Barisan Cameron Highlands MP C. Sivarraajh could have his win (as MP) nullified because he was found guilty for bribing Orang Asli voters during the May 9 General Elections, then what’s the difference with the DAP-Pakatan Harapan candidate this time?” he questioned.

He said the Election Commission (EC) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) must launch investigations immediately without being partial.

Bribing voters in the name of any excuse is against Section 10(a) of the Election Offences Act 1954, said Dr Asyraf.
