Muhyiddin mulling future with Pakatan Harapan, PKR leader claims
(MMO) – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is considering joining Pakatan Harapan now that he is no longer with Umno, according to a senior PKR leader who met the former deputy prime minister last week.
PKR chief parliamentary whip Datuk Johari Abdul said he met Muhyiddin on Tuesday with the party’s secretary-general, Rafizi Ramli, and co-elections director, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, and the subject of the ex-Umno deputy president’s political future was broached.
“Yes, we met Muhyiddin, basically just paying a courtesy call after he was expelled from Umno. We discussed national issues and about moving forward, but we did not ask him to join our party, because we are in no position to do that,” Johari told Malay Mail Online.
“He told us he feels he has three options: doing nothing and retiring from politics, joining any of the Pakatan Harapan parties, or form his own party and join Pakatan Harapan,” the Sungai Petani MP explained.
Johari added that Muhyiddin had asked for approximately a month to decide on his political future, claiming that the latter had said “there’s no reason why we can’t work together.”
Last week, Muhyiddin said he was weighing a new political platform from which to continue his criticism of the government, but declined to state if this will be another political party.
