Tribute song to late father becomes online hit (VIDEO)
(MMO) – Fulfilling one of his late father’s wishes, the second son of former Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Wan Mohammad Khairil Anuar Wan Ahmad has released a touching single about their moments together.
The wishful and beautiful ballad, titled Pinggiran Syurga (the Edge of Heaven) is a tribute to Wan Imar’s late father who was killed in a helicopter crash on May 5 in Sarawak.
Written together with Edry Abdul Halim from KRU Music, he described it as a “prayer for my father and a prayer for God to ease our family’s pain and suffering”.
Wan Imar said his cooperation with KRU began even before his father’s untimely passing, inspired by his passion for music.
“Music was always a way for me to express myself. My father introduced me to KRU Music executive director Datuk Norman Abdul Halim and they offered me a contract before the (May 5) tragedy,” he told reporters yesterday.

“After the crash, I wanted to do a song about my father. There is no political elements to the (timing) of the song because this song is for Father’s Day.”
Wan Imar said the music video elicited an emotional reaction from his mother when he first showed it to her.
“She could not hold her feelings back. It was an emotional journey for her to unveil the memories,” he said.
“The song is a tribute, both to my late father and to my mother. My brothers and I are doing our best to hold my mother together and I hope my father is proud of it.”
Mastura said she was deeply touched by the song, which had become an online hit.
“It is a very sincere song. Wan Imar does not have a father anymore but he wanted to send a message to Malaysians,” she told reporters.
