Amanah founders ‘drunk’ on DAP love, PAS Youth chief claims

(MMO) – PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz claimed today its offshoot Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) was formed because its leaders were “intoxicated” by support from secular party DAP.

The son of PAS’s deceased spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat reiterated that his Islamist party should not be blamed for the death of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition it shared with DAP and PKR.

“Some PAS members, they were drunk, but it was DAP who intoxicated them until they left the party altogether,” Nik Abduh told a press conference during his wing’s annual general meeting here.

He did not elaborate on what he meant by intoxication.

Amanah was formed shortly after PAS severed poltical ties with DAP during its muktamar last year, which subsequently led to the breakup of the Pakatan Rakyat pact.

Nik Abduh also defended his remarks yesterday that PAS had “loaned” seats to DAP and PKR in the 2013 general elections, after criticism this morning from DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke Siew Fook.

“The arrogant one is DAP. They were the ones who started attacking our president,” the Pasir Mas MP said in response.

However, Nik Abduh did not specify the seats, and said that his statement was merely a “figure of speech.”

“It was a figure of speech. I am just generally saying PAS should contest seats which it had contested before but gave it up for PKR and DAP later. There are seats where PAS and DAP both contested in the past,” he said.
