Selangor BN tells Rafizi to ‘be a gentleman’ and prove graft to authorities
(MMO) – PKR’s Rafizi Ramli should go straight to the authorities if he has evidence of graft in the Selangor administration, a representative of Barisan Nasional’s (BN) state assemblymen said.
State BN assemblymen secretary Budiman Mohd Zohdi said this would be the honourable thing to do if the allegations were true.
“Rafizi should be a gentleman. He should use the proper channels if the allegations are indeed true.
“Lodge reports with the police and MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission),” Budiman, who is also Sungai Panjang assemblyman, told Malay Mail Online.
He was referring to the spread of a message purportedly sent by Rafizi to the “Solidarity for Anwar” WhatsApp group that spoke of alleged graft in the Selangor administration.
According to the leaked message, Rafizi claimed to have received complaints of demands for cash and women in dealings with the Selangor administration and warned his party that he would expose the corruption unless it is halted.
The Pandan MP also claimed to already have evidence on the matter, but was restraining himself from revealing further details, as it would damage his party.
Budiman added that only Rafizi would be able to confirm the authenticity of the leaked message.
“Only he can know and can say if this is true or not. At the moment, we do not know,” he said.
The Umno man said, however, that the graft allegations should not in any way be used to help the opposition’s campaign in the coming Sungai Besar by-election.
“There shouldn’t be any attempts to use this scenario to show that PKR is a transparent party,” he said.
Budiman’s state constituency, Sungai Panjang, is one of two state constituencies under the Sungai Besar parliamentary constituency.
Sungai Besar MP Datuk Noriah Kasnon died in a helicopter crash during the Sarawak state elections a fortnight ago.
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali earlier challenged the allegations in Rafizi’s message although he did not name the leader.
The PKR deputy president added that if there was evidence to prove the claims, it should be presented to the authorities and not be used to smear his administration.
