Kit Siang claims Muhyiddin as latest campaign recruit

Pledge of Johor Pakatan Harapan’s support with other Umno and BN leaders on three issues.

The DAP’s Lim Kit Siang has hailed deputy Umno president Muhyiddin Yassin for demanding the truth about national affairs and promised him the cooperation of Pakatan Harapan in Johor in the struggle to save Malaysia.

Speaking at a Chinese New Year dinner in Muar held by the Johor Pakatan Harapan last night, Lim said the coalition was ready to co-operate with Muhyiddin and other leaders of Umno, MCA and Barisan Nasional at all levels in the state if they were prepared to speak up for the rights of the people and the future of the country.

Cooperation could take place inside and outside Parliament on three topics, he said. The topics, which have also been the theme of Lim’s recent public statements, were:

• Calling for a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the RM2.6 billion donation into Prime Minister Najib Razak’s private bank accounts and a transfer of RM55 billion in funds involving 1Malaysia Development Bhd;

• Making a public stand to oppose proposals to increase criminal penalties under the Official Secrets Act for whistleblowers and journalists who leak official documents; and

• To campaign for the Attorney-General to withdraw all sedition charges against politicians, activists, academicians and cartoonist Zunar.

Lim described Muhyiddin as “the latest recruit” to his own Save Malaysia campaign which he has conducted for months which he has claimed as being necessary to prevent the country from becoming a failed state.

He praised Muhyiddin for a speech at a Chinese New Year open house in Pagoh held by the MCA, at which the former deputy premier called for adherence to the truth and standing by what was right.

Lim also referred to a Facebook posting by Muhyiddin in which the former deputy prime minister wrote about “the mystery surrounding the loss of public funds and national assets” which he said would not be resolved. However to those in the know, it was akin to daylight robbery, Muhyiddin had said.
