(The Star) – DAP and PKR have called for an emergency meeting in Parliament to gauge public confidence in the Prime Minister.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has invited MPs from across the political divide and non-government organisations to the meeting, scheduled to be held at noon tomorrow.

She said the meeting would be held to ponder the next course of action in the wake of aWall Street Journal report alleging that the 1MDB money trail ended in what it said to be Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s personal accounts.

“There seems to be some basis to the serious allegations in WSJ, now that the Attorney-General has confirmed seeing the documents and the authorities have raided three companies,” Wan Azizah said in a statement.

Wan Azizah said that although the complete report from all government agencies involved was not yet ready, the people should be prepared for any eventualities.

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang had suggested the meeting of MPs and NGOs on Saturday.

Lim claimed that the Attorney-General’s confirmation of documents from a government probe had changed the character of the allegation against the Prime Minister.

“With the Attorney-General’s confirmation, the WSJ allegation against Najib has assumed an even more serious character,” Lim said.
