Handover of PM’s post based on Pakatan consensus, says Rafizi

(Bernama) – The handover of the prime ministership from Dr Mahathir Mohamad to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim boils down to a consensus reached by Pakatan Harapan, a PKR vice-president said.

Rafizi Ramli compared it to the time when the ruling coalition decided that Mahathir would be the seventh prime minister.

“The matter (transition of power) will be brought to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) presidential council, although it has been agreed that the seventh prime minister would be Tun M (Dr Mahathir Mohamad) while the eighth prime minister is Anwar Ibrahim.

“The period and timing for the transition will be discussed at the council,” he said after a Reformation Talk here last night.

According to Rafizi, the transition of power will be resolved once Mahathir (PPBM), Anwar (PKR) and Shafie Apdal (Parti Warisan Sabah) come to an agreement.

Meanwhile, on Sabah, Rafizi said the state needed special attention on its rights and development.

“I will stay in Sabah to assist the Warisan-Pakatan Harapan government in the 15th general election,” said Rafizi who was barred from going to Sabah during the 14th general election (GE14).

He said the discussion on the development agenda as well as the rights of Sabah should begin now so that the assistance to the state could be channelled accordingly.

“I am more familiar with the politics and economy of Sabah compared to other states in Peninsular Malaysia as I have been involved in several Petronas projects, including in Kimanis and Petronas Methanol Labuan,” he said.
