‘Zuraida made PKR Wanita ineffective’

Zuraida is only interested in getting projects, says PKR leaders

(FMT) – As the campaign for the PKR polls heats up, a candidate for the party’s Wanita deputy chief post has blamed Zuraida Kamaruddin for making the women’s wing ineffective.

Faezah Ariffin said PKR Wanita – which Zuraida has led since 2007 – was not functioning as it should and cautioned members against allowing Zuraida’s allies to continue leading the wing.

“Just look at what happened after Zuraida was given power. It went to her head after she was appointed a minister,” Faezah, who is in PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli’s team, said at a ceramah to commemorate 20 years of the “Reformasi” movement in Negeri Sembilan.

Faezah also slammed the Ampang MP for her recent comments that not all of PKR’s elected parliamentarians were prepared to give up their seats for Anwar Ibrahim.

Last week Zuraida – who is vying for a vice-president’s post – dismissed a fellow PKR MP’s claim that the party’s 51 elected representatives were prepared to give up their seats for Anwar, who recently won the party presidency unopposed.

Zuraida pointed out that both Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar and Pandan MP Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said they were not prepared to relinquish their seats.

But Faezah questioned if Zuraida should have come out with such a statement in the first place.

“If she does not want to give way, it’s ok, but others can.”

Faezah urged members to reject Zuraida, who she said was only interested in getting projects, and told them to back Fuziah Salleh instead.

“We have given Zuraida enough time, but all she cares about are her projects. What will become of PKR if such values are ingrained in our members?”

Faezah’s criticisms of Zuraida come a week after Fuziah insinuated that the wing under Zuraida’s leadership had become a “yes man” and dared not question the leadership.
