A-G tells ‘mercenary’ portals to go fly a kite

(TMI) – ATTORNEY-GENERAL Mohamed Apandi Ali will not rebut the personal attacks launched against him on two news portals, which he alleged have been paid to tarnish his reputation.

Apandi told local daily Utusan Malaysia there was no need for him to respond to the allegations levelled at him on Malaysia Today and The Third Force.

“Those portals are run by mercenaries, when they are paid, they write.

“My response is, go fly a kite. I don’t care about what they write,” Apandi was quoted saying, in response to a request to comment on the article “Apandi Ali needs to resign as attorney-general with immediate effect” published on the two portals.

The article was published on Malaysia Today, run by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, and reproduced on The Third Force.

On February 13, Apandi’s wife, Faridah Begum Abdul Kader lodged a police report alleging an article written by Raja Petra was defamatory.

The blogger had alleged that she used her influence to pull strings in the Attorney-Generals Chambers (AGC), an allegation denied by the AGC, which maintained that all case decisions were free of outside influence.

Apandi had last year threatened to sue the blogger “till kingdom come” over an article entitled “Strong Rumours Surrounding the AG: Part 1”

The A-G had said that the article accusing him of corruption was “nothing but fake news done with evil intention”.
