‘We are not lying,’ says Wan Fayhsal on draft of allocations for opposition

The matter was also confirmed by Takiyuddin who was present during the press conference.

(NST) – Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal maintains that the opposition received a draft of the allocations from a representative of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Wan Fayhsal (PN-Machang) said whether or not the government was informed of the draft, the opposition bloc had no reason to lie about the matter.

“I want to clarify that the discussion on the draft allocation lies with the opposition leader (Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin) and the chief whip (Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan).

“(And) I can confirm that it (the draft) exists initially. However, I do not know whether or not the government was informed about the draft and the question needs to be directed to the prime minister.

“However, we did not lie to the people over the discussion on this allocation,” he told a press conference in parliament’s media centre, today.

Wan Fayshal said this in response to Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil who earlier today lambasted the Bersatu man and told him to keep his mouth shut if he had no clue about the matter.

Following this, Wan Fayshal also labelled Fahmi as “emotional” as he was only responding to the accusations thrown by the government lawmakers who claimed that the opposition was merely accusing the government of the draft of the allocations.

“I am not sure why he is emotional (when giving such a statement). I merely responded to defend my fellow members of parliament (MP) as we are deprived of our right to serve our constituencies by the current government.”

Previously, Hamzah and Takiyuddin met Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof on the issue of allocations for the opposition.

Subsequently, Hamzah, who is also Larut MP, reportedly said that the opposition had received a draft document detailing matters related to negotiations on allocations for opposition-held constituencies.

Fadillah has denied Hamzah’s claims.
