Report: PAS pays RM659k debt to ex-Harakah printer

“They use luxury cars, organise muktamar at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), Shah Alam with a fee that is sure to reach tens of thousands of ringgit. But when it comes to debt, they don’t even bother to solve the issue.

(Focus Malaysia) – PAS has finally settled a debt of over RM659,000 with a former printer of the party’s official mouthpiece Harakah Daily as ordered by the court.

Sources said the payment was made via a cheque delivery to a lawyer representing NAJ Press Resources (M) Sdn Bhd on March 7, Malaysiakini reported.

On Dec 5 last year, the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court allowed an application by NAJ Press Resources to enter a summary judgement against the Islamist party to obtain the balance of its debt for the sum of RM656,233.69.

PAS, however, filed an appeal on Dec 14 following the court decision.

Putra Taulan Rasul, a lawyer representing NAJ Press Resources from the law firm Putra Taulan & Faiq Azizan, confirmed the matter with the news portal, saying that PAS also withdrew its appeal against the KL Sessions Court’s decision.

“PAS has made the judgment payment and has withdrawn the appeal. Our side has also waived the interest,” Putra was reported as saying.

In October last year, recall that Harakah Daily’s former printers had slammed PAS for living a “lavish lifestyle” while the companies had yet to receive outstanding payment years after it was reported that the party’s official mouthpiece had fallen into debt.

NAJ Press Resources manager Hussin Jan had seen red after PAS failed to take up the responsibility to pay Harakah’s debt but the Islamist party and its leadership are allegedly spending large sums of money.

“They use luxury cars, organise muktamar at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), Shah Alam with a fee that is sure to reach tens of thousands of ringgit. But when it comes to debt, they don’t even bother to solve the issue.

“It has been almost seven years that the outstanding debt has not been paid in full,” he was reported as saying in an Oct 22 report by Malaysiakini.
