“Bersatu MPs themselves requested to change seats in Dewan Rakyat,” Speaker clarifies

DEWAN Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul has confirmed that Tanjong Karang MP Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi and Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Syed Abdul Fasal had put in a request to move their seats away from the Opposition bloc of their own accord.

(Focus Malaysia) – Johari was responding to a query from Perikatan Nasional (PN) whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan in the Dewan Rakyat today (Feb 27) on the matter.

“Those who are not comfortable with their current seating position can put in a written request to me…I don’t ask any questions,” he told the Dewan Rakyat

“I will not stop anyone from (asking to change) their seating positions. Whatever the reasons are, as long as they write to me, I can make a decision if it is applicable.

“There are also new MPs who have seniority within the party and I entertain (such requests). I am open about this (seat changes).”

Zukafperi and Syed Abu Hussin are among the six Bersatu MPs who had recently declared their support for the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim-led unity government.
