MACC to record Ismail Sabri’s statement today, says source

This is related to MACC’s probe into the RM700 million allegedly used to promote the government’s achievements.

(FMT) – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will record former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s statement today in relation to its probe into the RM700 million allegedly used to promote the government’s achievements.

According to a source, Ismail will not have his statement taken at MACC’s headquarters in Putrajaya.

“They (MACC officers) will record his statement elsewhere,” said the source who declined to be named.

On Monday, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said a former prime minister and the aides who served under him would be called in for questioning in relation to the probe.

MACC launched its investigation last week into RM700 million allegedly used for promotional and publicity purposes to showcase the government’s achievements during the two previous administrations from 2020 to 2022.

MACC is seeking to discover how the money was spent, and has already called up the companies which received the funds from the government.

FMT is reaching out to Ismail’s office for comment.
