Muda sec-gen says party left out of unity govt’s meeting again, no invites or response yet

The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) was left out for the second time from the unity government secretariat’s meeting, and it was once again not invited to the meeting, its secretary-general said.

(MMO) –  According to Malaysiakini, Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi had said: “We are not attending the meeting. Muda did not receive any invitation.”

The news portal also reported Amir as saying that Muda sent its third letter on February 18 requesting a meeting with Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) secretariat to discuss issues such as Muda’s role in the government but are still waiting for a response.

“Whether we will be invited or otherwise, Muda will continue to focus on our preparations for the state elections,” he was quoted saying.

He also said there was no progress on Muda’s bid to join the PH coalition, with the last response being from PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim before the 15th general election was held last November.

Left out from the unity government’s secretariat second meeting at the Umno headquarters last night, Muda also did not receive any invitation or even notification when the secretariat met for the first time on February 7.

On February 8, Amir had on Twitter said Muda was not invited, even though the unity government’s secretariat meeting’s backdrop had listed logos of all coalitions and parties forming the unity government, including Muda’s logo.

On February 9, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Muda was not invited to the secretariat meeting as it was for “founding member parties” but said Muda will be brought in for future meetings as they also support the government.

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli explained that only signatories had on February 9 also said the secretariat meeting was for signatories of a memorandum of understanding and for parties with three MPs and above: PH, Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Parti Warisan.

While Muda said it was also a signatory, it has only one MP via its president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman.
