PAS president earns accolade from HAMAS for promoting Palestinian justice

Kit Siang, the DAP stalwart, has often berated Hadi over his appointment as the former PM Special Envoy to the Middle East for two ‘backdoor’ PMs yet unaware that the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) has an Islamophobia Observatory monitoring Islamophobia on a global and daily basis.

(Focus Malaysia) – AS DAP retired supremo Lim Kit Siang questions the role of PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang as the former Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, the Marang MP perhaps has the last laugh by having been recognised by the Palestine Liberation Movement (HAMAS) for providing justice to Palestine.

In paying tribute to Hadi, HAMAS political bureau chairman Ismail Haniyeh said the PAS president has played a very big and important role by uniting the Islamic movement and government leaders to help the country involved.

“Thank you to PAS and the people of Malaysia for their material and moral support to help the Palestinian people and the Palestinian liberation campaign,” PAS mouthpiece Harakah Daily cited him as saying in a statement.

“Your services are very meaningful in highlighting the brutality of Israel which continues to oppress the Palestinian people by invading the settlement area as well as provocation by entering the Aqsa Mosque.”

Earlier, the former Palestinian prime minister received a courtesy visit from PAS and PASRelief led by the Islamist party’s international council chairman Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi (Hadi’s eldest child from seven siblings) at the HAMAS office in Doha (Qatar).

In a different development, Ismail also prayed for the political situation in Malaysia to be more stable. “I closely follow and understand the political developments that are happening in Malaysia,” he added.

Kit Siang, the DAP stalwart, has often berated Hadi over his appointment as the former PM Special Envoy to the Middle East for two ‘backdoor’ PMs – drawing a salary of RM60,000/month – yet unaware that the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) has an Islamophobia Observatory monitoring Islamophobia on a global and daily basis.

Taking a swipe at Hadi, Kit Siang would point out that from the annual reports of the OIC Islamophobia Observatory on Islamophobia since 2007, there was no incidence of Islamophobia in Malaysia.

“He (Hadi) should now report to the OIC Islamophobia Observatory instances of Islamophobia in Malaysia together with evidence to substantiate such allegations, or he should stop sullying the country’s good name on the international front,” challenged the former Iskandar Puteri MP who retired from active politics in February 2022.
