GE15: Khairy volunteered for Sungai Buloh, says Zahid

Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Wednesday revealed that former Rembau member of parliament Khairy Jamaluddin had volunteered to contest the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat.

(NST) – “KJ (Khairy) asked to contest in Sungai Buloh. No one forced him to contest there. KJ said don’t tell me it’s difficult (to win). I merely granted his wishes,” he said, after a BN campaign election visit to BN Titiwangsa candidate Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani’s command centre here tonight.

When asked whether the caretaker health minister was a potential prime minister candidate for BN in the future, Zahid said it’s too soon to decide.

“It’s too early to discuss whether KJ is a possible PM candidate of the future. That, we will have to wait for the next general election, not this election,” he said, before leaving the command centre.

Certain quarters have been critical about Khairy being given Sungai Buloh to contest since it is not one of BN’s strongholds.

Khairy was slated to contest there after making way for BN and Umno No. 2 Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to make his parliamentary seat debut in Rembau.
