What can a new Umno government do that the current Umno government cannot?

Fine, then pray tell what is the new post-GE15 Umno-led government going to do to solve the economic problems of the people and the country? What are the plans of the new post-GE15 Umno-led government? What can the new post-GE15 Umno-led government do that Ismail Sabri and the current government cannot do?

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Umno says now is the best time to dissolve parliament to make way for GE15.

GE15 must be held around August or September so that Umno can menang besar.

Umno is currently at its strongest while the opposition is weak and fragmented.

The government is unstable, so Malaysia needs GE15 so that a stable and strong government can be voted into office.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob is a weak prime minister and is being bullied by PAS and Bersatu.

GE15 will allow Umno to go solo (meaning contest GE15 as Barisan Nasional and not as Muafakat Nasional or Perikatan Nasional) and hence Umno-BN will no longer need to share power.

Yes, these are the arguments we have been hearing for many months now, and those harping on these arguments are mainly Umno leaders and activists.

The irony of the whole thing is, it is Umno who keeps repeating the mantra that the government and the prime minister are weak and unstable. Umno has convinced its own members that the government and the prime minister need to be changed for the good of the party.

Is Umno suffering from denial? Is Umno overrating itself and does it really believe it is at the peak of its popularity?

If the Umno-led government cannot perform now, as Umno alleges, how can the voters be convinced that the new post-GE15 Umno-led government can perform better, even if they replace Ismail Sabri with a new prime minister?

Why would the new post-GE15 Umno-led government be better than the present Umno-led government? If the present Umno-led government cannot manage the country, then the new post-GE15 Umno-led government will not be able to manage the country as well.

In other words, if the present Umno-led government cannot manage the country, then we need a totally new government, not another Umno-led government with a new Umno prime minister.

This is what those critics of Ismail Sabri and critics of the current government do not seem to understand. It is not Ismail Sabri who they are attacking. They are attacking themselves. Ismail Sabri and the current government translates to Umno.

The critics of Ismail Sabri and the current government are trying to portray a “them” and “we” scenario. “Them” is Ismail Sabri and the current Umno-led government, while “we” is the rest of Umno who are not in the government. Hence, they are saying the voters must kick out “them” and replace “them” with “we”.

Okay, let us go along with this fallacy that the issue is between “them” and “we”. Kick out “them” and replace “them” with “we”, because “them” cannot seem to manage the country. The country is facing too much political and economic problems, which is why we need a snap GE15 (so that “them” can be kicked out and replaced with “we”).

Fine, then pray tell what is the new post-GE15 Umno-led government going to do to solve the economic problems of the people and the country? What are the plans of the new post-GE15 Umno-led government? What can the new post-GE15 Umno-led government do that Ismail Sabri and the current government cannot do?

The critics of Ismail Sabri and the current government cannot answer that question. What Malaysia is facing is what the entire world is facing. All countries are suffering. And this is because of the devastation brought on by Covid-19 and the Ukraine-Russian war.

Malaysia is like a small boat caught in a Tsunami. All you can do is hang on for dear life and hope you will not drown. Not even a new post-GE15 Umno-led government can fight a Tsunami. And kicking out Ismail Sabri and replacing the current Umno-led government with a new Umno-led government is not going to change anything.
