PAS wants to use own logo in Melaka

(FMT) – PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said it would be better for the party to use its own logo in the coming Melaka state election.

This is because every political party has agreed to work with it, he said.

“So it would be better if we use one logo, PAS’ logo,” he said in a Facebook post.

“Think about it.”

Tuan Ibrahim went on to say the Syura Council, the party’s highest decision-making body, would decide on the matter at a meeting to be held soon.

Earlier, it had been reported that PAS would contest under the Perikatan Nasional banner, along with its allies in the Bersatu-led coalition.

Both Bersatu and its rival Umno, which will contest under the Barisan Nasional banner, have said they want to work with PAS in the election.

PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin had previously announced that the coalition would contest all 28 state seats and had decided to field candidates from Bersatu, PAS and Gerakan under the PN logo.

Last night, Umno said it wanted to work with the Islamist party in the upcoming state polls, but the latter would have to use its own logo to avoid head-to-head battles between the two largest Malay parties.

Melaka goes to the polls on Nov 20, with nomination set for Nov 8.
