Non-Malays have lost the moral right to complain

So, when they toppled Mahathir, Muhyiddin and not Anwar ended up replacing him. That is something they not only overlooked but never thought could happen. But it did. And today all they can do is write articles and letters attacking Mahathir and saying all sorts of things about him, DAP-Pakatan Harapan’s Prime Minister in May 2018.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin

The letter by Clement Stanley (READ BELOW) echoes the sentiments of the many non-Malays. But then DAP and Pakatan Harapan boasts that 97% of the non-Malays voted for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the last general election in May 2018.

Yes, almost 100% of the non-Malay voters voted for Pakatan Harapan in GE14 knowing that if they win the general election Mahathir was going to be the prime minister. Today, they grumble about Mahathir. What is wrong with these people?

For 37 years they said all sorts of nasty things about Mahathir. They accused Mahathir of being the mastermind of the RM31.5 billion Bank Negara Forex scandal. They accused Mahathir of ripping off the country in numerous privatisation scandals involving RM100 billion. They accused Mahathir of gross errors of judgment in the MAS, Perwaja, Proton, etc., decisions.

They said Mahathir is the worst and most corrupt prime minister in history, at par with Idi Amin. They blame Mahathir for Malaysia’s very troubling race-relations and even said Malaysia is sitting on a racial time-bomb that may explode at any time.

Mahathir, the darling of the non-Malays from 2015 to 2020

Yes, they even blamed Mahathir when it rains and floods or when it does not rain and there is a drought. Then, in May 2018, they voted for Mahathir to become, yet again, the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

It is not that they did not know who Mahathir is. They knew very well who Mahathir is as many books had been written about him and how toxic he is. Yet, in May 2018, they voted for Mahathir to become, yet again, the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Why did they put the fox in charge of the hen house? And why now complain when the fox ends up eating all the chickens? It does not make sense.

Well, these non-Malays knew that playing with Mahathir means you are playing with the devil. But they needed to make a deal with the devil to bring down a Malay government because only a Malay can defeat a Malay.

Anwar proved a failure so they turned to Mahathir in 2018

They tried that with another Malay in 1990 and 1995 — Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah. But they failed and Ku Li ended up going back to Umno (and Mahathir) with his tail between his legs.

They tried it a second time in 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2013 with another Malay — Anwar Ibrahim. After four attempts they still failed and, worst of all, during that time Anwar made secret deals with his old Umno comrades.

Six attempts with two Malays and all ended up in failure. Then along came Mahathir and they felt that this time they will succeed because Mahathir beat both Ku Li and Anwar — which means he is more powerful than Ku Li and Anwar — so surely Mahathir can succeed where Ku Li and Anwar failed.

It was a huge risk because when you make a deal with the devil the devil will end up owning your soul. But it was a risk worth taking, as the outcome would be the Umno-Barisan Nasional government, after 63 years in power, can finally be brought down.

Ku Li, the first Chinese kuda in 1990

However, to get Mahathir to bring down the Umno-Barisan Nasional government, they must first offer him the post of Prime Minister. But then that is for only two years so they will endure two years of misery if that means the Umno-Barisan Nasional government can be brought down.

But what if after two years Mahathir refuses to resign and hand power to Anwar Ibrahim? That is no problem because they will not wait two years for Mahathir to resign. Before the two years are up, they will make their move and topple Mahathir and replace him with Anwar Ibrahim.

So that is what they did in February 2020. But they overlooked one very important thing. And that very important thing is to replace Mahathir as the new Prime Minister you need a majority in Parliament. And Anwar did not have that majority. Muhyiddin Yassin did.

Clement Stanley, Free Malaysia Today

Malaysia was known at one time for putting up the tallest building. The country has also probably produced the world’s best squash player of all time.

It is known for many other achievements, although some of these will probably be overtaken or have already been overtaken.

But I believe Malaysia will never be overtaken when it comes to producing the world’s biggest storyteller in the form of Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Mahathir recently said he wanted Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister but claims it was undone by Muhyiddin Yassin, our present prime minister. Really?

The Brothers Grimm were magnificent storytellers, but the yarn Mahathir is now spinning far outweighs any stories they have come up with.

While I am no admirer of Anwar, I do sympathise with him.

Anwar has been duped by Mahathir so many times you almost need a calculator to work it out.

And while great storytellers can pull you into their universe and make you believe in the fantastic, Mahathir’s latest would beat it all if it was said a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far away.

But the readers/audience of today cannot be fooled that easily. Like it or not, technology has helped your audience become more learned, more logical and definitely more discerning. Gone are the days when you could hoodwink your people. No one is going to be eating out of the palm of your hand, which they might have done once upon a time. So get real please, Tun. This is 2021 after all.

You played out Anwar. You played out Pakatan Harapan. You played out the people who put their hopes, dreams, and trust in you.

You know you never wanted Anwar to be PM. You have insulted and mocked him in the past. You have painted him as incompetent and untrustworthy. You even went out of your way to push for Azmin Ali, his deputy not so long ago.

Why? Because you did not believe Anwar was the right man to succeed you. Be honest. Just look again at your past statements and you will see what we all saw. A man hell-bent on denying Anwar the opportunity to succeed you.

And now you say you wanted Anwar to be the prime minister? If this is your script for a fairy tale, you couldn’t have written it better.

Except that this time, nobody will be listening to your fairy tale. I used to read bedtime stories to my children so that they would fall soundly asleep. But the story you are now telling will not give me any sleep. More of an unforgettable nightmare really.

When Michael Ende wrote the “Never-Ending Story”, he must have had you in mind, Tun.

Because, quite simply, this is how I view the stories you tell. They are Never Ending!
