Syed Saddiq to be charged by MACC tomorrow


(FMT) – Syed Saddiq bin Syed Abdul Rahman will be charged by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission tomorrow with criminal breach of trust, says a source in the know.

According to the source, the charge is in relation to the misappropriation of a political party’s funds amounting to over RM1 million.

“The former minister, who was the youth chief of his political party, will be charged under Section 403 and Section 405 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust.”

The source said the former minister will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court in KL at 9am tomorrow.

“The former minister is also expected to be charged under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (Amla) at the Johor Bahru sessions court soon.”

The source said the authorities have been investigating the MP since June 2020 after a report was lodged over the loss of some RM250,000 in his keeping.

Previously, the former minister had claimed the money which had disappeared from his home in Petaling Jaya was his and his parents’.
