Lim Kit Siang finally agrees everything that happens is the will of God

(The Mole) – DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang today apologised for misconstruing a statement by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang that only Allah could end the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lim, who was heavily criticised in social media over the matter admitted that he had misinterpreted Hadi’s assertion to mean only an Islamic government could tackle the crisis.

“I had never intended to question any faith or religion, including Islam, and my only intention was to write a response to what Hadi had been reported to have said,” he said in a statement.

Lim said after his statement was issued, he was told that he had misconstrued what Hadi had actually said.

“On this realisation, I retract my criticism and would like to apologise for it (as it was) based on an erroneous understanding of Hadi’s statement,” he added.

Hadi in a Facebook post yesterday stated that he believed the pandemic was a test for humanity by God, and that it could only be overcame by Allah’s will.

“Only those who are ignorant of the religion will look for weaknesses and shortcomings without offering any help to face these challenging times,” Hadi said.

Despite the apology, Lim stressed that PAS, as a member of the current administration, must shoulder some blame for what he deemed as the government’s ineffective handling of the pandemic.
