Hamid Bador must reveal who interfered in the police investigation on 1MDB

A very powerful politician had interfered in the police investigation on the 1MDB matter and had ordered Hamid to drop the case against Zeti and just pursue the case against Najib. Who was this powerful politician? And the MACC also knows about this matter. Can Hamid reveal who that politician is, and can the MACC investigate this, like what Saifuddin has suggested?

NO HOLDS BARRED

PKR’s secretary-general, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, wants the MACC to investigate former IGP Abdul Hamid Bador’s allegation that politicians are interfering in the police force. That is actually a very good idea and thus far the only intelligent thing that Saifuddin has ever said.

In 2014, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad instructed Khairuddin Abu Hassan to lodge a police report regarding the 1MDB scandal. According to Mahathir, Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak had stolen RM42 billion of 1MD’s money, and maybe even RM50 billion or more.

Najib was then accused of transferring almost RM3 billion of that money into his personal bank account (then about US$680 million). That money, it seems, came from the Middle East, specifically from Jho Low.

Which powerful politician interfered in the 1MDB investigation and told Hamid Bador to drop the case against Zeti Aziz?

The MACC and PDRM both investigated this allegation plus also Khairuddin’s 2014 police report and found out that almost RM3 billion had come in from the Middle East and had, in fact, been transferred into Najib’s personal bank account.

But what they also found out was that Bank Negara Malaysia was aware of this and had given Najib approval to bring in that money — and that it was Bank Negara that had suggested Najib bank in the money into his personal bank account and not into Umno’s bank account.

The reason was simple. If the money went into Umno’s bank account, it would involve the RoS, and since it was spent for the general election, it would also involve the EC or SPR (there is a limit to how much political parties and candidates can spend in an election).

But more interestingly, what the MACC and police investigation revealed was that not only was Bank Negara aware of that transfer from the Middle East and had approved it, but Bank Negara Governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz’s family also had dealings with Jho Low and had profited from that relationship.

Hence it was Bank Negara that collaborated with Najib and helped him bring in almost RM3 billion from the Middle East, plus the Bank Negara Governor herself was involved with Jho Low.

When Abdul Hamid Bador took over as IGP, he was aware of all this. He kept saying the Malaysian police was still trying to bring Jho Low back to face trial and that by December it would happen. That was three Decembers ago.

What is even more crucial is that Hamid knew about the report from Singapore regarding Zeti’s involvement with Jho Low and he knew that Bank Negara was covering up for Zeti. He also knew that the current Bank Negara Governor, Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus, was personally involved in covering up for Zeti.

MACC urged to act on former IGP’s claim of political interference in police

(The Star) – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should immediately act on claims that there is political interference in police matters as not doing so could erode public confidence in the anti-graft body.

“The ball is now in the MACC’s court,” said Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The PKR secretary-general also said former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador’s claims of rampant corruption involving “political frogs” in the country was not new and should be investigated.

He said Abdul Hamid’s revelation only reinforces his and party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent claims that the “carrot-and-stick” approach was used to entice Opposition MPs to switch allegiance.

“The carrot is where you offer positions and allocations. The stick is when they send the authorities after you.

“PKR’s stance was made very clear when Anwar met the MACC director-general previously.

“The latest revelation by Abdul Hamid isn’t something new, it only reinforces our previous statements,” he said at a press conference at PKR’s headquarters in Merchant Square on Monday (May 3).

At the same time, Saifuddin also said politicians, irrespective of their political allegiance, should be investigated by the MACC if there are elements of graft.

“We admit that in the past during the previous 22 months, there were Umno MPs who joined Pakatan.

“Our statement is for all, because politics should not be tainted by such practices,” he added.
