KWAP: the reason why the Special Branch ditched Najib Razak in 2015

My suspicion is Bukit Aman wanted Najib out, as what my Bukit Aman insider told me in 2015. And the reason they wanted Najib out was because of the RM4 billion KWAP money, again as what my Bukit Aman insider told me. And, today, if what we read below is true, this KWAP matter may also result in Najib losing his appeal.

I met my Bukit Aman insider in July 2015 to find out why they had abandoned Najib Tun Razak and were now supporting Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to oust the Prime Minister.

In this discussion in a London hotel with the Bukit Aman chap, he told me about the RM4 billion, which, he said, Najib stole from KWAP. The 1MDB money is one thing, the Bukit Aman chap told me, because that was borrowed from the bank. But the KWAP money is “our money” he said. That is our “duit pencen”.

That explained why the then Deputy Director of the Special Branch (and now IGP), Abdul Hamid Bador, openly expressed support for Mahathir and condemned Najib. Most in Bukit Aman were outraged with what they saw as Najib stealing RM4 billion of their money.

I have written about this before (and Saari Sungib has also written a series of books about it as well). However, allow me to recap what I said in the past.

In 2001, when I was detained by the Special Branch (together with Saari Sungib and eight other Reformasi activists), the officers who were interrogating us told us that whoever becomes the Prime Minister is up to Bukit Aman. If Bukit Aman wants to remove a Prime Minister, then that person is as good as removed.

Hence, in 2015, when Bukit Aman turned its back on Najib and supported Mahathir to oust the Prime Minister, Najib’s days were as good as finished.

I suspect it was the Special Branch and/or their agents in Najib’s office who told Najib that Umno did not need to do any deal with PAS because Barisan Nasional was going to win 135 parliament seats without any electoral pact with PAS.

Others in Najib’s inner circle disagreed, and because of that they were side-lined and kicked out of the inner circle.

After agreeing to an electoral pact with PAS, at the eleventh hour Umno dumped PAS without explaining the reason why

But they did not break from PAS until the last minute. For three years they pretended that the electoral pact with PAS was still on, and only at the eleventh hour they dropped PAS. By then it was too late, and nothing could be done.

Some of you can probably remember that I forecasted that Barisan Nasional was going to win 135 parliament seats in GE14 (and some of you even laughed at this forecast). What I did not reveal, of course, was that my forecast was based on the three-year “discussion” that Umno and PAS were having.

What I did not know then was at the last minute Umno was going to dump PAS and go for three-corner contests. And that cost Umno and Barisan Nasional the election.

Until today, I still do not believe that Najib could be so naïve and stupid to think that without the support of Bukit Aman, and with Umno-BN contesting in three-corner fights against Mahathir-Pakatan Harapan on one side and PAS as a third contender, that Umno-BN could win GE14. I believe Bukit Aman misled Najib to make sure he gets defeated in GE14.

But then only Najib can tell us why he made the decision which he made in GE14. Who advised him to go three-corner in GE14 instead of a straight fight with an electoral pact with PAS? But Najib is not talking and is not telling us the reason why he dumped the electoral pact with PAS and went three-corner.

SRC’s business plan was a sham – Sithambaram

(Bernama) – The Court of Appeal was today told that the SRC International Sdn Bhd’s (SRC) business plan was a sham, although billions of money had been channeled to the company by the Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP).

Ad-hoc prosecutor Datuk V Sithambaram submitted that SRC only “commenced business” by transferring out money to Switzerland in a fixed deposit when KWAP had disbursed the loan in 2011 and 2012.

He submitted this before a three-member bench led by Court of Appeal Judge Datuk Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil in the hearing of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s appeal against his conviction and jail sentence for misappropriation of RM42 million in SRC International funds.

The other two judges on the bench were Datuk Has Zanah Mehat and Datuk Vazeer Alam Mydin Meera.

Sithambaram said SRC had plans to do all kinds of things everywhere, from Indonesia to Mongolia.

“But there is nothing to show for it. All that talk about investment plans is a sham defence… Their defence cannot stand scrutiny,“ he said sharply which prompted one of Najib’s counsel, Harvinderjit Singh to stand up to object but Sithambaram ticked him off and told the defence lawyer to sit.

He said Najib knew that everything was a sham, as SRC had nothing to show after obtaining the RM4 billion loan.

When asked by Abdul Karim whether it was to camouflage the actual intentions, Sithambaram said “Yes”.

“The evidence is all there. If they had done what they said they wanted to do for Malaysia, I would have been very proud. At the very least there wouldn’t have been any more power failures. But from 2014 to 2018 nothing happened,” he added.

The Kuala Lumpur High Court had on July 28 last year sentenced Najib to 12 years’ jail and RM210 million fine after finding him guilty on seven charges of criminal breach of trust, money laundering and abuse of position, involving RM42 million in SRC International funds.

The hearing of the appeal continues.
