Who is spending the allocations for Segambut, asks Hannah

Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh is demanding transparency over some millions in allocations for community programmes in her constituency.

(FMT) – In a Facebook post, the DAP MP said she has lost all allocations previously given by the federal government to each MP following the “Sheraton Move”, which led to the fall of the Pakatan Harapan government.

The allocations total RM3.8 million, for which RM300,000 a year is used to run her office, including staff salaries, rent, utilities and other incidental expenses.

The remaining RM3.5 million is given as grants to associations in Segambut and used for community programmes, including infrastructure projects in schools and parks.

“This allocation has been redirected by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government to an unelected PN politician in Segambut. We have no details of their spending since the Sheraton Move. No one knows,” she said.

Yeoh said she had always published how she spent her allocation on her website, since she was a Subang Jaya assemblyman.

“My greatest concern now is to sustain the running of my team this year (with RM300,000) so we can better serve the people,” she said, adding that opposition MPs in Kuala Lumpur did not get any financial support from state governments like Pakatan Harapan MPs in Selangor and Penang.
