Some in Umno still want an Umno-PKR-DAP alliance

Two nights ago, Anwar Ibrahim met up with certain Umno leaders to plan their next move after the Perak coup fiasco. They still want Muhyiddin and PPBM out, to be replaced with PKR and DAP as Umno’s new coalition partner and with Anwar as PM9.

There are some in Umno who feel the party’s future is with Anwar Ibrahim, PKR and DAP. The failed Perak coup was their first attempt at creating this planned Umno-PKR-DAP alliance at state level. Thereafter, other states were supposed to follow, and finally a change of federal government.

Three weeks ago, Barisan Nasional secretary-general Annuar Musa told Umno members to be realistic and to stop making demands because of supposedly unfair treatment the party is receiving from the current Perikatan Nasional government led by Muhyiddin Yassin.

Annuar reminded these disgruntled Umno members that Umno is no longer the strong party it used to be and to get rid of their superiority complex attitude.

“We forgot that we had fallen and lost in the last general election. Half of the Cabinet are from BN. Therefore, whatever we want to do with the government, we can do it. Why must people create rumours that we are treated unfairly?”

Umno is now divided into the pro-DAP and anti-DAP factions

“The Cabinet is the prime minister’s prerogative. If we want to negotiate for positions in the government, we could have done so before the Cabinet was formed, but we didn’t. So, why must we complain now, eight months later?”

Party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi agreed when he said, “Lawan Kita Tidak Pernah Kuat, Kita Kalah Kerana Kita Lemah” (READ MORE HERE).

Since then, Annuar is being labelled a traitor who has sold out to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and who is PPBM’s running dog.

PAS is caught in the middle and does not know which way to lean. Umno has made it very clear that PAS needs to choose between Umno and PPBM and the next general election will not be faced as a Perikatan Nasional coalition of Muafakat Nasional and PPBM.

It looks like Perikatan Nasional — or PAS and PPBM — may have lost GE15 even before parliament can be dissolved and the date of polling day can be confirmed. Basically, this power struggle is in the DNA of Malays who suffer from the PHD syndrome (perangai hasad dengki) and who cannot see someone else better or more successful than them.
