PPBM will become Umno Lebih Baru

If Umno enters into an alliance with PKR and DAP, then it, too, will eventually fade away like Semangat 46 and PPBM will replace Umno as the new platform for the Malays and will become Umno Lebih Baru.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Semangat 46 was originally supposed to be called Umno Malaysia — basically the new Umno or Umno Baru after the original Umno formed in 1946 was deregistered.

When Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad found out that “Team B” had submitted an application to register Umno Malaysia, he instructed the Registrar of Societies to reject the application.

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah’s Semangat 46 was supposed to be called Umno Malaysia: then Mahathir stole the Umno name

Two days later Deputy Prime Minister Tun Ghafar Baba submitted an application to register Umno Baru.

“Team B” then amended their application from “Umno Malaysia” to “Semangat 46” since the Umno name had already been taken (although it was taken two days AFTER Umno Malaysia’s application).

Semangat 46 was supposed to be the new Umno to replace the old Umno that had been deregistered. In fact, people were calling Umno Baru “Mahathir’s Umno” and they did not regard it as the genuine Umno.

Rais Yatim was Semangat 46’s mastermind and he acknowledges that DAP was Semangat’s downfall

Then Semangat 46 entered into an alliance with PAS, DAP and PBS. And that ended the dream for Semangat 46 to replace Umno. Eventually, Semangat 46 lost ground and had to be closed down and all the Semangat 46 people were forced to join Umno Baru.

Now it appears like Umno Baru is taking that same route. Some in Umno want the party to enter into an alliance with PKR and DAP.

Once that Umno-PKR-DAP alliance takes off, Umno will suffer the fate of Semangat 46 and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia or PPBM will transform into the Umno Lebih Baru and many Umno Baru people will cross over to PPBM.

Malays-Muslims will not support an Umno-PKR-DAP alliance

Malays-Muslims are very sentimental, emotional, parochial and feudal, as Mahathir always complains. So, it is not easy to erase the spirit of 1946 and 1957. That is the problem with the Malays.

Because of this, also, PAS survived many breakups (Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia or Berjasa in the 1970s, Parti Hizbul Muslimin Malaysia or Hamim in the 1980s, and now Parti Amanah Negara).

But PAS and Umno are on different platforms — so both can co-exist. Umno and PPBM, however, are fishing in the same pond (which is the reason why Umno is very jealous of PPBM). Umno and PPBM are like Umno and Semangat 46. Eventually one has to go.

Anwar and DAP have no place in this Malay-Muslim alliance

Hence which one will fade away? In the Umno-Semangat 46 case, Semangat 46 faded away because they entered into an alliance with DAP and PBS, both seen as enemies of the Malays-Muslims.

If Umno enters into an alliance with PKR and DAP, then it, too, will eventually fade away like Semangat 46 and PPBM will replace Umno as the new platform for the Malays and will become Umno Lebih Baru.
