Muhyiddin meets PAS, Umno presidents to strengthen party ties

(The Star) – Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin met PAS and Umno leaders to boost ties between the parties following Bersatu’s virtual AGM held during the weekend.

Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president, said he met PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Monday (Nov 30).

“The meeting was to discuss the efforts to strengthen the working relationship between Bersatu, PAS, and Umno,” he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Dec 1).

The three parties are in the Perikatan Nasional coalition together with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and STAR.

On Sunday (Nov 29), Muhyiddin, who is Perikatan chairman, said the next general election would see only one Perikatan candidate in each contested seat.

He had said the logo of Perikatan, having triumphed in the Sabah election in September, would unite all parties in the next polls.

Muhyiddin, however, said the general election should only take place when the Covid-19 pandemic was over.
