PPBM man slams Ku Li for wanting Umno to contest all traditional seats, including PM’s

(FMT) – A PPBM leader today slammed Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (Ku Li) for wanting Umno to contest all its traditional seats, including that of the prime minister, calling it an attempt to topple the Perikatan Nasional-led government.

Muhammad Faiz Na’aman said Ku Li’s remarks came as no surprise, as he had been largely negative against PN and had “never liked Umno’s union” with PAS through Muafakat Nasional earlier.

The PPBM supreme council member said in a statement today that Ku Li had not hidden his disdain as he had urged current Umno ministers in the PN Cabinet to quit and had also called on Umno to review its political cooperation with PAS and PPBM.

He said if one were to entertain veteran and “sentimental” politicians then “we, as a race, will never move forward.”

“We will remain in a never-ending cycle of vindictive politics, obsessing over certain personalities, which will be disadvantageous to us in the long run,” he said.

Faiz compared Ku Li with Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa, who, he said, was far-sighted in wanting a grand coalition of parties to counter Pakatan Harapan.

“Ku Li still thinks that Malaysia is led by an autocratic party like in the 1980s, while Annuar is concerned about the unification of a race at the national level, based on realistic power-sharing among key parties.

“It is an open secret that Ku Li is a good friend of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad…they are both worried about Anwar Ibrahim becoming PM. But what is weird is they are not happy with current PM Muhyiddin Yassin’s leadership,” he said.

Faiz said it was time for Malays and Muslims to let go of the old political mentality based on “extreme dominance” and fixated with “old political figures.
