Dr M: Pejuang will accept advice of King, ensure country is politically stable
(The Star) – Pejuang will accept the advice of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and ensure that the country is politically stable, says Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He added that his party will also cooperate with all to address the threat of Covid-19.
In welcoming the King’s decision to not issue a proclamation of a state of emergency, Dr Mahathir said that Pejuang also welcomed his advice to politicians to reduce their politicking.
“Of course, this is not limited to opposition politicians only, but includes government politicians, ” he said in a statement on Monday (Oct 26).
Dr Mahathir then added that he hoped that the government and government politicians would end actions like removing politicians from posts if they did not support the government, stopping the allocations of elected representatives who do not support their actions.
He also said that he hoped the government would also stop buying over supporters of opposition parties, forcing elections to be held and rejecting the registration of political parties like Pejuang.
Dr Mahathir also thanked the King for his action in prioritising the interests of the people by making a wise decision on the proposal to declare a state of emergency.
On Sunday (Oct 25), Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah reminded all politicians to immediately stop all forms of politicking that could disrupt the stability of the country’s administration.
He also decided that there was no need for a proclamation of a state of emergency in the country at this point of time.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Friday (Oct 23) requested the proclamation of Emergency under Article 150(1) and proclamation of Emergency (Essential Powers 2020) Ordinance pursuant to Article 150 (2B) of the Federal Constitution to combat the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
