Mahathir’s protracted fight against corrupt Malays

Mustafa K Anuar, Aliran

The Malay community especially must take up the cudgels against corruption, given that they dominate the public sector and a number of those who succumbed to corruption were decision-makers at various levels, Mustafa K Anuar writes.

It is deja vu. The 2018 general election saw former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad urging fellow Malaysians to vote Barisan Nasional out of Putrajaya because it was said to be tainted with kleptocracy.

And recently, as part of an electoral campaign in the run-up to the Slim by-election on 29 August, Mahathir again urged Malaysians, particularly the Malays, to vote for the candidate of his yet-to-be-registered Pejuang party as a way of rejecting what he considers as the corrupt practices of the Perikatan Nasional pact.

In particular, Mahathir condemned PN’s buying of political support through the provision of plum positions and other rewards. (READ MORE HERE)

It really irritates me when Malays such as Mustafa K Anuar, Anwar Ibrahim, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, etc., talk about how corrupt the Malays are and condemn corrupt Malays as if they are so clean, pure, and innocent of such acts.

“But there are other forms of corruption that the Malays should frown upon, especially when their Islamic faith has zero tolerance towards corruption and condemns the givers and takers of bribes,” said Mustafa K Anuar in his article.

Actually, Islam has zero tolerance for many other sins as well. Corruption is not the only sin condemned by Islam. Want to talk about those as well or are these “liberal” Muslims okay with other immoral acts and sins?

In China, corrupt officials are put to death by firing squad. Okay, let’s not put a bullet in the heads of corrupt officials. Let’s just cut off their hands. Boleh tak?

If we ask for Hudud laws to be implemented in Malaysia they will condemn these laws as cruel and barbaric. Tembak mati okay. Potong tangan zalim, tak okay. Lepas tu complain pasal rasuah.

Melayu memang ramai yang jenis puxxmak. Kalau bab Shia, macam-macam fatwah.

Siapa Perdana Menteri semenjak tahun 1981? Abdul Hadi Awang ke? Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man ke? Nik Aziz Nik Mat ke? Fadzil Noor ke?

“Political patronage as practised by BN over the years is one of the starting points for the spawning of an insidious culture of corruption in our society,” said Mustafa K Anuar. True. We said this long ago…back in 1987.

Yes, in 1987 we coined one new word…Umnoputra. And we openly declared that Umnoputra ialah musuh negara dan perosak negara.

These are the two Pakatan Harapan leaders who institutionalised corruption

In 1988, we appealed to Malays, Chinese, Indians and “lain-lain” to vote against corruption and abuse of power and vote for change. What happened in the 1990 general election? Siapa menang?

In 1998, we appealed to Malays, Chinese, Indians and “lain-lain” to vote against corruption and abuse of power and vote for change. What happened in the 1999 general election? Siapa menang?

Yes, history keeps repeating itself.

In 2018, Malaysians finally voted for change. But then who did they choose as their new leaders? Yes, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Anwar Ibrahim and those yang sewaktu dengannya.

Hell, have you not heard that the disease cannot become the cure? Do you not know that the problem cannot be the solution?

Mahathir the sifu and Guan Eng the protégé: corrupt birds of a feather

“Incidentally, the origins of some of these corrupt practices can be traced way before the Najib Razak administration, which explains why certain misdeeds have become entrenched,” said Mustafa K Anuar.

Let’s rephrase Mustafa K Anuar’s statement to be more exact.

“Incidentally, the origins of some of these corrupt practices can be traced back to when Dr Mahathir first became Prime Minister in 1981, which explains why certain misdeeds have become entrenched.”

Yes, the same Dr Mahathir who is Pakatan Harapan’s choice of Prime Minister.

And are they saying Anwar is clean? Did Anwar not lie to Parliament in 1993 to cover up the RM31.5 billion Forex disaster? And did Lim Kit Siang not demand Anwar’s resignation as Finance Minister in 1994?

And did Anwar not spend RM500 million to oust then Deputy Prime Minister Ghafar Baba in 1993, RM200 million in Sabah alone?

Where did the RM500 million come from? Anwar’s father was just a ‘dresser’ in the hospital. So Anwar is not an anak orang kaya. Why do Mustafa K Anuar, Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng and all those other “fighters-against-corruption” explain where this RM500 million came from?

These people know where Anwar’s millions came from. Vincent Tan, Tong Kooi Ong, John Soh Chee Wen, Robert Kuok, etc., are amongst just some of those sources.

Remember the Sports Toto “Special Draw”? Where do you think this money went to? Hundreds of millions were involved.
