Ghosts in MACC lockups? Never heard of any in my 30 years in service, says Shukri
(The New Sarawak) – Are the lockups in the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) haunted? Ex-chief commissioner Datuk Mohamad Shukri Abdull has never heard of any in his 30 years in the graft-busting body.
“I have never received reports claiming the MACC’s lockups are haunted, whether from MACC officers or outsiders,” Shukri said in a Malaysiakini report.
He was responding to former Felda chairperson Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad’s testimony at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Monday.
Isa had told the court that his former special political officer Muhammad Zahid Md Arip had informed him that the latter was harassed by “ghosts” in the MACC lockup. The distress had caused Zahid to implicate Isa in a corruption case.
“He was detained at the old MACC building and said that one of the cells was haunted. Due to fear and being under duress, he had to implicate me to set himself free,” Isa was quoted as saying earlier.
