Why is IGP Hamid Bador protecting Jho Low?

However, Jho Low said he would only agree to testify against Najib if he was not also charged and put on trial PLUS he need not return anything he stole. Mahathir could agree to Jho Low not being charged but he wanted Jho Low to return, it not all, at least some of the billions he stole. Jho Low did not agree to that, so the deal did not happen.

Jho Low hiding in Macau, says IGP

1MDB scandal: China denies sheltering Malaysian fugitive Jho Low

Macau and China have disputed IGP Abdul Hamid Bador’s allegation that Low Taek Jho a.k.a. Jho Low is hiding in Macau and is travelling freely in China because he has the protection of the Chinese government.

The “unilateral” disclosure of information from the Malaysian police that Jho Low is in Macau is “not in line with facts and the rules and practices of international police cooperation”, said the Office of the Secretary for Security.

The Chinese authorities said: in fact, the Malaysian government had not notified the Macau authorities about this or had made any request regarding the tracking down and/or arrest of Jho Low. The Chinese authorities added that Malaysia was informed in 2018 that Jho Low was NOT in their territory after the Macau sub-bureau of the China National Central Bureau of Interpol received a request from Malaysia.

IGP Hamid Bador’s job is not to arrest Jho Low but to make sure he does not come back to Malaysia

So, there you have it. IGP Hamid Bador lied. Not only is Jho Low NOT hiding in Macau or in China and DOES NOT have the protection of the Chinese government, Hamid Bador or the Malaysian police NEVER communicated with Macau or China to request that Jho Low be arrested and sent back to Malaysia.

I suppose, in the first place, Hamid Bador and the Malaysian police cannot request China or Macau to arrest someone who is not hiding in China or Macau. The more important question is: if Hamid Bador and/or the Malaysian police know where Jho Low is hiding, why not go arrest him and bring him home? It is not like Jho Low is hiding in a cave in the desert like Osama Bin Ladin.

The truth is, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad does not want Jho Low to return to Malaysia. If Jho Low is brought back and is put on trial, a lot of untold stories would be revealed to the public. And that is not good for Mahathir.

Jho Low’s father, Tan Sri Larry Low Hock Peng, is a Mahathir crony who made a lot of money when Mahathir was prime minister

First of all, Jho Low’s father, Tan Sri Larry Low Hock Peng, is a Mahathir crony. He founded MWE Holdings and made millions when Mahathir was prime minister. This fact is never discussed much.

Secondly, much of the talk centres on what people said Jho Low said. In other words, it is all hearsay and nothing thus far has come from the horse’s mouth. So, what we know about the 1MDB and SRC cases is what others say based on what they allege Jho Low told them.

If Jho Low was put on the stand, his testimony may not quite be the same as the “official story”. Hence Mahathir does not want Jho Low to take the stand and testify. If not, the story about what happened may change quite a bit.

Hence Hamid Bador’s job is NOT to track down Jho Low, arrest him, and bring him back to Malaysia to face trial. Hamid Bador’s job is to make sure Jho Low never comes back to Malaysia, at least while Mahathir is still alive.

Mahathir did initially ask the Malaysian police to meet Jho Low to discuss him coming back to Malaysia as the “crown witness” to testify against Najib Tun Razak. So, the Malaysian police not only knew where Jho Low was but they even met up with him.
