145 construction workers on the run after Covid-19 swab test

A group of foreign workers has gone into hiding after swab tests carried out on those who had come into contact with infected workers at the Pavilion Embassy construction site here.

(FMT) – A source close to the matter said 145 workers had escaped from the site.

“They escaped after the medical team took the swabs and while the police were on their way to cordon off the area,” he told FMT.

However, he said the authorities have their details as these were taken down for the tests, the results of which may be available today.

He told FMT that a police report was lodged on the matter, and that 11 of the workers had been arrested already.

FMT is attempting to contact the police about the case.

Meanwhile, those in charge of the situation are expected to meet today.

There are about 400 workers at the Pavilion Embassy construction site which was placed under targeted enhanced movement control order yesterday.

Most of them are foreigners.

Deputy Federal Territories Minister Edmund Santhara said then that 28 workers, all foreigners, had been sent to the hospital with the rest put under strict quarantine at a hotel.
