MPs Being Lured to Defend Mahathir?

Reports are that a delegation of 22 Barisan Nasional (BN) lawmakers had attended a “dinner meeting” hosted by PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali last night.

Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein Hishammuddin has been accused by Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam as spearheading this new move to incite Umno MPs to join PPBM or at the very least, to influence them into supporting Mahathir, or even Azmin, to prevent Parliament from being dissolved following the Tanjung Piai by-election disaster.

Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Kamaruddin Jaffar and Cameron Highlands MP Ramli Mohd Noor were among those spotted leaving this clandestine meeting in their respective cars before midnight. They declined to comment on the nature of the meeting and sought to play it down as a casual encounter.

Following complaints the Umno’s disciplinary board has received over this meeting, board chairman Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali said the board will hold investigations as it was clearly against the party’s supreme council decision not to have any cooperation with any component parties from Pakatan Harapan.

Hishammuddin has denied claims of his involvement in any talks to sideline PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and welcomes any investigations by Umno’s disciplinary board action, saying, “There is nothing for me to hide.”
