UEC report submitted, now pending Cabinet decision, says task force member

(FMT) – The special review committee on the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) today said its final report has been submitted to the education ministry, a day after minister Maszlee Malik said he had yet to receive it.

Mohamad Raimi Abdul Rahim, a member of the Unified Examination Certificate Task Force (PPDUEC), said the report was submitted “just after the education minister said the ministry was still waiting for it”.

“We have identified the key issues and all the stakeholders that we met.

“The suggestions are very clear in the proposal that we submitted to the minister and the Cabinet,” he told FMT after an event here today.

“We have done our part, so now it is up to the Cabinet to agree or disagree with recognising it.”

The PPDUEC was supposed to submit its findings to the education ministry last month.

Maszlee said yesterday that the task force had been in touch with his ministry about the issue although he had yet to receive the report.

The PPDUEC consists of three members: Raimi, chairman Eddin Khoo and Dong Zong deputy president Tan Yew Sing.

Recognition of the UEC was one of Pakatan Harapan’s pledges in its election manifesto last year.
