“Where is the toll-free PLUS? Toll-free Penang bridge?” Najib asks DAP

(FMT) – Najib Razak has pointed the finger back at DAP leader Lim Kit Siang and his son Guan Eng after Lim claimed that voters were being bombarded with “lies, fake news and hate speech” on social media.

Najib also listed out a variety of claims made against him in the past by Pakatan Harapan leaders, whicn they were in opposition, and noted that these claims had yet to be proven.

In a Facebook posting this evening, Najib said:

“Eh? Voters in Tanjung Piai are bombarded with lies, fake news and hate speech? This means that Guan Eng and Kit Siang have started giving ceramahs.”

Kit Siang had claimed earlier today that Pakatan Harapan had two weeks to make Tanjung Piai voters the “most media literate” people in Malaysia, able to identify lies and hate speech on social media and chat messaging.

Among them was a claim that Pakatan Harapan had been unable to fulfil its manifesto promises in its 18 months in power, he said.

“Where is the toll-free PLUS? Toll-free Penang bridge?” Najib said.

Najib went on to post his own list of claims made in the past by Pakatan Harapan leaders and noted that they had yet to furnish evidence to back their many allegations.

Among them was an allegation that he was responsible for the murder of Teoh Beng Hock, a political aide to a former assemblyman, and Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.

There was also no proof, Najib said, to the often-repeated claim that Malaysia’s two French-made submarines, purchased during the BN administration, were unable to dive.

Neither was there any evidence to back up the claim that Barisan Nasional had flown in 40,000 phantom voters to help the coalition win the 13th General Election.

“Where is the proof that the PAS and Umno were Talibans when the BN fielded a candidate for MCA (in the Tanjung Piai by-election),” Najib said in a Facebook post.

Earlier this year deputy speaker Nga Kor Ming, of the DAP, sparked the Taliban controversy by using the word to describe the Umno-PAS alliance, saying the country would be run like in Afghanistan.

In Tanjung Piai, BN is fielding a candidate from MCA, Wee Jeck Seng, a two-term MP who was narrowly defeated in 2018 by Dr Md Farid Md Rafik of PPBM

Farid died of heart complications in September.

Six people are contesting the by-election: Karmaine Sardini (Pakatan Harapan), Wee; Wendy Subramaniam (Gerakan), Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz (Berjasa) and independent candidates Ang Chuan Lock and Faridah Aryani Abdul Ghaffar.
