Dr M has support of all PAS lawmakers, says Takiyuddin
(The Pas) – PAS chief whip in Parliament Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan (pic) has assured that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has the support of all its lawmakers in the Dewan Rakyat.
Takiyuddin said the current political climate in the country has caused some uneasiness amongst many, especially the rakyat who want to see a stable administration.
He said there have been efforts to undermine the Prime Minister’s leadership, as well as unresolved conflicts within Pakatan Harapan.
“This is not our business but as lawmakers, community leaders, the position (strength) of the Prime Minister is important for the wellbeing of the country.
“We as leaders have been asked by the rakyat, what will happen to the country, especially with a new government that has taken over.
“It is going to be two years but it seems like the internal matters in the government are not resolved. Cabinet members are not aligned (with each other).
“Some want Langkawi (Dr Mahathir) to stay until he completes his term, some don’t,” he said during his debate on the Budget 2020 on Thursday (Oct 24).
Takiyuddin said there are ways to remove a Prime Minister under Article 43 (4) of the Federal Constitution.
The Kota Baru lawmaker also expressed his uneasiness over the current situation of uncertainty in the leadership.
“We hope that the Prime Minister and the Cabinet can resolve this issue.
“Also, we want to say that, whatever happens, I as the PAS whip chief would like to say that there are 18 votes for Langkawi (Dr Mahathir),” he added.
On Tuesday, Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said that Dr Mahathir should be allowed to complete a full term as premier to “respect the people’s wishes”.
Azmin also denied there was an agreement on a date for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to take over as prime minister.
