Nasharuddin was not a PAS leader when alleged crimes were committed

Nasharudin Mat Isa was slapped with three charges under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (Amla) for the offence of money laundering amounting to RM302,069.60. He also faces 30 other charges under Section 409 of the Penal Code for committing CBT involving RM3,721,683,80 between 2015 and 2018.

However, Nasharuddin had already been sacked from the PAS Syura Council and subsequently from the party in 2013. Hence he was no longer a “PAS leader”, as what the media is reporting, when the alleged crimes were supposed to have been  committed.

I have received official expulsion letter – Nasharudin Mat Isa

(Bernama. 7 February 2013) – The official expulsion letter for Bachok MP Nasharudin Mat Isa as a member of the PAS Syura Council has reached him Wednesday after being sacked about two weeks ago.

He said however the letter dated Jan 14 was only posted on Jan 30 as printed on the envelope.

“It is confirmed in black and white that I am no longer a member of the PAS Central Syura Council. The letter only arrived today,” he said during the Soal Jawab programme aired over TV3 Wednesday night.

The programme was conducted by Media Prima Executive Director, News and Editorial Operations Datuk Ahmad Talib.

The former PAS deputy president said the letter among others mentioned that the expulsion was made at the Syura Council meeting which was held on Jan 13 for breaching several decisions made by the council.

“I do not know what I have breached, maybe I have made several media statements openly and my stand on the latest issue differed from the party’s stand,” he said.

Asked if he was still a member of PAS, Nasharuddin said there were conflicting statements on the matter between PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

“The spiritual leader said the expulsion from the Syura Council meant I am automatically also expelled as a member but the president said I am still a member. But if there was a letter to expel me as a member, I will wait. Maybe another three more weeks,” he said.

Meanwhile Nasharuddin clarified that up to today, he has never received any invitation to join Umno although he was with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak twice in the visit to Mecca and Gaza.

“The Prime Minister has never invited me, …nothing from the Prime Minister inviting me to join Umno,” he said.
