Kit Siang says Umno-PAS supports Mahathir to oust DAP-Amanah from government

(FMT) – DAP’s Lim Kit Siang today claimed that Umno and PAS are changing their strategy as they are running out of time to bring down the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-led government.

In a statement, the Iskandar Puteri MP said the opposition was now targeting DAP and Amanah instead of pushing for a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“This is why, unlike in previous parliamentary meetings, there was no speculation before the present budget parliamentary meeting to float the possibility that there would be a ‘no confidence motion’ to remove Mahathir as prime minister,” he said.

He claimed this strategy had been abandoned ahead of Nov 11, when former prime minister Najib Razak will either walk free or be told to enter his defence on charges of abuse of power, money laundering and corruption involving RM42 million of funds from SRC International.

The DAP supremo said the new strategy involved the escalation of lies, fake news and hate speech “to incite interracial and inter-religious polarisation and conflict”.

He said this had led to those who advocate a multiracial Malaysia being painted as the country’s “No. 1 enemies”.

“DAP is suddenly pictured as a terrorist organisation or one which supports terrorism, whether communist or Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE),” he added, referring to recent events in which 12 people including two DAP assemblymen were arrested for allegedly supporting the now-defunct LTTE.

“There will more lies, fake news and hate speech from now till Nov 11, and if Najib’s defence is called, from Nov 11 till the judgment of the SRC trial.”
