No factionalism in PKR, says Anwar, after three party leaders absent from Penang convention

(The Star) – The absence of three prominent PKR leaders raised eyebrows at the state party convention.

Notably absent were Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, Seberang Jaya assemblyman and state executive councillor Dr Afif Bahardin and former state PKR chairman and Nibong Tebal MP Datuk Mansor Othman.

“Nurul is attending a conference in Kuala Lumpur, Dr Afif is overseas and I am not sure about Mansor,” said PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a press conference after opening the state PKR Convention on Sunday (Oct 13).

“We have a 90% turnout today and there was 100% turnout at the Johor Convention, which shows there is no factionalism,” said Anwar when asked if he had solved the divisions in the party.

“I was in Selangor and the Mentri Besar was there to discuss with me on the next state convention.

“You should ask the leaders who are not here and it must be accepted that not every meeting will have a 100% attendance,” he said.
