Ramasamy washes his hands of the arrested LTTE terrorists

(The Star) – Penang Deputy Chief Minister ll Dr P. Ramasamy (pic) says he is not aware of any activities of his fellow DAP assemblymen that led to their arrests.

“All I know is that they attended a war memorial gathering for victims of the Sri Lanka civil war in Melaka, ” he said.

Ramasamy was asked if he knew anything about Melaka exco member G. Saminathan and Seremban Jaya assemblyman P. Gunasegaran who were arrested on Thursday (Oct 10) for alleged links to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), also known as the Tamil Tigers.

“Is it a crime to attend a war memorial for war victims? Is it a crime to be sympathetic to the Tamilians, Rohingya, or Hamas – where we have people in this country who believe in their causes?” he said when met at his office at Komtar here on Friday (Oct 11).

Media personnel were outside his office in the morning in the midst of speculation that he and another DAP assemblyman would be picked up next by Bukit Aman’s Counter Terrorism Division.

“I am not a fugitive. I am not going anywhere, ” said Ramasamy.
