2 DAP reps among 3 arrested for terror links

(FMT) – Police have arrested three men including two DAP assemblymen from Melaka and Negeri Sembilan, believed to be over their alleged links to terrorism, FMT has learnt.

Gadek assemblyman G Saminathan, who is also a Melaka state executive councillor, and Seremban Jaya assemblyman P Gunasekaren were arrested by Bukit Aman officers this morning, along with the leader of an Indian NGO from Perak.

A source said they are being investigated for links with the now-defunct Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), the separatist group which was involved in the decades-old civil war in Sri Lanka.

When contacted, Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy confirmed their arrests to FMT.

“We were told they were arrested over a ‘heroes day’ gathering they attended last year,” said Ramasamy.

Bukit Aman’s anti-terrorism chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay meanwhile said a statement would be issued later.
