Najib: Umno, PAS now ‘brothers’ protecting rights of Malays

(The Star) – The alliance between Umno and PAS is more than just a marriage for political gains, but a partnership to protect the rights of Malays in the country, says former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Addressing a large crowd during the Batu Pahat Umno division general assembly here, he said the relationship between the two parties had grown stronger.

“Today marks a historical day as this is the first time I have ever seen an Umno division general assembly being held in a PAS building in my 42 years in politics.

“This proves that our political collaboration is not just on paper or merely some random declaration. It is something real that has penetrated deep into the grassroots level,” he said at the PAS Renggit Complex on Saturday (Aug 24).

He added that the two rival political parties had now became “brothers” in their plight to protect Islam in the country.
