Anwar dangling the post of DPM to get DAP’s support

And this is what Anwar is dangling in front of DAP for their support. If DAP helps Anwar become PM, Anwar will make DAP the DPM. And Mahathir already knew about this pact two years ago, more than a year before GE14. So, there is no way Mahathir is going to allow Anwar to become PM because that would mean, as DPM and Finance Minister, DAP would be more powerful than the Prime Minister.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

When I read comments made by the younger generation and the non-Malays, even the older generation non-Malays, I can see that they lack political acumen. Most of these people have a very superficial understanding of politics. Considering that Chinese always proudly quote Sun Tzu, you would imagine they would be quite politically-honed. Malays are by far more politically-minded than the non-Malays.

The problem with the Pakatan Harapan people is they talk too much. Not only the non-Malays from DAP and PKR, but even the Malays such as Anwar Ibrahim, Rafizi Ramli and so on. They just love hearing the sound of their own voice and seeing their names on the front page of the newspapers. As what US President Theodore Roosevelt once said on 26th January 1900, “Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.”

Anwar is busy gathering signatures from his own party to show he has more support than Azmin Ali has. Anwar also keeps repeating he “has the numbers” (meaning more than half of the 222 Members of Parliament) and will be taking over as Prime Minister on or before May 2020 as agreed.

Anwar announced that his agreement with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to take over within two years (meaning by May 2020) is in writing. Mukhriz Mahathir, however, contradicted Anwar and said no written agreement exists. So, who is bluffing, Anwar or Mukhriz?

Mukhriz called Anwar a liar and Anwar did not reply

If there really is a written agreement between him and Mahathir, why does Anwar not then show it? Mukhriz has called Anwar a liar and Anwar said nothing. Does Pakatan Harapan not say if you do not deny the allegation then it is true? Does Pakatan Harapan also not say if an allegation has been made against you then the onus is on you to prove your innocence (not the accuser who needs to prove his allegation)?

I was told that there is a very loose agreement on paper but it does not state any timeframe. It does not state two years or May 2020. Hence Anwar cannot force Mahathir to meet his two-year or May 2020 ‘dateline’ because so such dateline exists.

So why did Mahathir not correct Anwar and all those PKR and DAP people who kept repeating the “two years or by May 2020” mantra? He did! Many times! It is just that the people are not listening. And on many an occasion Mahathir ‘talks’ not with words but with actions.

I remember Mahathir’s political secretary telling me in 1987 that you must not listen to what Mahathir says but look at what he does. You ‘read’ Mahathir by his actions, not by his statements. Mahathir believes in cryptic statements and allegorical comments and this is how you need to ‘monitor’ him. After more than 30 years, one can sort of ‘read’ Mahathir, something these ‘new kids on the block’ and non-Malays cannot seem to do.

For example, Mahathir is now in Turkey. Why? And see what he said in Turkey.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has vowed that Malaysia will continue to crack down on any trace of the group called Gulenist Terror Organisation (Feto) here, as a show of support towards the Turkish government. (READ MORE HERE).

Turkey has pledged to offer Malaysia whatever it needs in order to develop a defence industry, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad revealed yesterday amid his official visit here. (READ MORE HERE).

Why did Mahathir exclude Anwar from the Turkey visit when Erdogan is Anwar’s best friend?

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is supposed to be Anwar’s best friend and greatest supporter. It was Erdogan who gave Anwar ‘political asylum’ in 2008 during the Sodomy 2 crisis. So why is Mahathir playing footsie with Anwar’s best friend? And why did Mahathir not bring Anwar along?

Yes, that is Mahathir’s way of talking without any words coming out of his mouth. Anwar, of course, can see this. But the ‘new kids on the block’ and the non-Malays cannot make any sense out of Mahathir’s trip to Turkey and the ‘you pat my back and I pat your back’ song and dance.

What else did Mahathir do or say in Turkey?

There are political attempts, though they are not very successful, to undermine the present government, said Mahathir

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) government’s efforts to fix the country’s administration and economy is slowed down due to several political attempts to undermine the ruling coalition.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said in an interview with Turkish news agency Anadolu that PH took over a huge financial problem due to the excessive loans taken up by the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

“… there are political attempts, though they are not very successful, to undermine the present government, but of course they will retard the course of the actions taken to recover.

“We were left with a lot of problems among which was a financial problem because the previous government borrowed huge sums of money.

“And we need to pay back the loans that was taken by the previous government. And we don’t know where the money is kept in [by the previous government],” he said in the interview.

Dr Mahathir said that while the money was to have been used in some business enterprises which could be restored, he said the money was, however, lost and was believed to have been hidden abroad.

“And we believe that they are hiding the money outside, [and] the financial pressure on the present government is very great.

“And it is hampering our return to a good economic management,” he said. (Malay Mail Online).

Okay, there are two cryptic messages in that statement to the Turkish media.

First, “… there are political attempts, though they are not very successful, to undermine the present government, but of course they will retard the course of the actions taken to recover.”

Is Mahathir talking about Umno trying to undermine the present government? No, if it was then Mahathir would mention “the opposition”. Mahathir means those within Pakatan Harapan, in particular the Anwarists in PKR plus DAP. Mahathir is talking about an internal sabotage, not an external attack.

Secondly, Mahathir is saying the country’s economic problems are worse than he had originally thought. In other words, Mahathir’s cryptic message is he needs more time to solve the country’s problems before handing over to PM8. And Mahathir has Lim Guan Eng to thank for this because the Finance Minister has been saying that Malaysia is going bankrupt. So, if Malaysia is going bankrupt, like Guan Eng says, then Mahathir cannot leave on or before May 2020, which is only ten months from now.

See how when Guan Eng talks too much Mahathir is able to use it to his advantage? Guan Eng has given Mahathir the ‘bullet’ to stay on longer.

Guan Eng said Malaysia is going bankrupt and will need more than five years to recover, giving Mahathir the excuse to stay on a full term till GE15

Anwar is getting very desperate and it shows. DAP wanted the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister but Mahathir gave them only Finance Minister and gave the post of DPM to Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Why give the post of DPM to Dr Wan Azizah? Well, so that the post would ‘belong’ to PKR. Then if Mahathir appoints Azmin Ali as the next DPM there would be no issue since Azmin is also from PKR. Yes, Mahathir had worked out the details long before GE14. Mahathir had already planned three moves ahead even before he made his first move. And he does not talk too much like those PKR and DAP people.

Mahathir already revealed in January 2017 that DAP wants the DPM’s post. But he very cleverly revealed this secret by defending DAP. Yes, there were allegations that DAP wanted the PM’s post but Mahathir denied this by saying that DAP only wants the DPM’s post. So, in defending DAP against allegations they want the PM’s post, Mahathir revealed that DAP wants the DPM’s post. Clever or not?

And this is what Anwar is dangling in front of DAP for their support. If DAP helps Anwar become PM, Anwar will make DAP the DPM. And Mahathir already knew about this pact two years ago, more than a year before GE14. So, there is no way Mahathir is going to allow Anwar to become PM because that would mean, as DPM and Finance Minister, DAP would be more powerful than the Prime Minister.
