Umno and PAS MPs back Mahathir for a full term

Overplaying the miserable state of Malaysia’s finances actually works in Mahathir’s favour because many, even in Umno and PAS, feel Mahathir should stay on and the country should not gamble its future on an incompetent Anwar. Mahathir may have his faults but placing Anwar in charge is guaranteed suicide for the country.

Putting Anwar in charge is a death-wish for Malaysia

The majority of the 67 Umno and PAS Members of Parliament are in support of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad completing his full five-year term as Prime Minister. They are not in favour of Anwar Ibrahim taking over in 2020, and especially not soon after the 13th October 2018 Port Dickson by-election.

Judging by what Lim Guan Eng, Tun Daim Zainuddin, and many other Pakatan Harapan leaders are saying, Malaysia is in dire straits and is facing bankruptcy. Hence Mahathir will have to stay on as Prime Minister for at least one full term because Anwar will never be able to manage the country’s dismal finances.
