Sikh bikers confronting Raja Petra in Manchester? No such thing

(The Star) – Pictures purportedly showing of a Sikh group on motorcycles getting ready to confront blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin for insulting the turban has turned out to be fake news.

The viral message on social messaging application WhatsApp claimed that a group of Sikh men in Manchester had contacted Raja Petra to let him know that they were coming to see him.

The message also said that the Sikh men on motorcycles dropped in at Raja Petra’s cafe in Manchester, but the shop had closed by then.

The viral message was accompanied by pictures of a group of Sikh men in yellow turbans on motorcycles.

Canadian local news agency CTV News Vancouver reported that the group, the Sikh Motorcycle Club, were riding their motorcycles for 12,000km to raise funds, as well as awareness for the Canadian Cancer Society.

According to the article, the cross-country ride was in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Foundation, with funds raised going towards the research and prevention of paediatric cancer and for children undergoing cancer treatment.

The war of words with Comm Amar Singh was over Raja Petra’s claims that the police had stolen RM43.3mil following the raids at various premises linked to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in May.

On Friday (Sept 28), Raja Petra published a post on his blog, Malaysia Today, an article titled “Amar Singh’s Turban Must Be Too Tight”.

Raja Petra has since apologised to the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director and the Sikh community.
