Syed Ali saves Umno by resigning before he gets arrested


With Syed Ali’s and those of his ilk’s resignation from Umno the party now has a better future while Syed Ali would be spared arrest for his corrupt acts

(Bernama) – Cheras Umno division leader Datuk Seri Syed Ali Al-Habshee today announced he was leaving the party and to that effect, resigned from the post he has held since 1998.

He said with the current political scenario and landscape, a more realistic and down to earth approach was required to be relevant.

“I have to choose a different path, pave a different direction by quitting Umno for the continuity of my struggle,” he said in a statement, here today.

Syed Ali, who had been with Umno for more than 40 years, is the latest member of the party to quit.

His departure from Umno follows a similar move by former foreign minister and Kimanis MP Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, who quit the party on Sept 19.

Previously, Jeli MP Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed also announced he was quitting Umno after more than 40 years of service to the party.
