Saifuddin: Anwar seeking PKR presidency is a natural process

(The Star) – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s decision to seek the presidency of PKR is a natural process and there isn’t any other motive behind the move, says the PKR secretary-general.

Datuk Saifuddin Nasution said Anwar is merely completing what he has set out to do 20 years ago by seeking the post.

“For one, the announcement ends speculation and it’s an internal PKR issue and doesn’t involve Pakatan Harapan,” he said on Monday.

On talk that Anwar is seeking to be party president to become Prime Minister soon, Saifudin said that it was an issue to be discussed at the Pakatan presidential council.

“Both Anwar and Azmin are on the same page on various issues, and it’s not true of talk that Anwar’s proxy would take on Azmin in the election.”

Saifuddin however, refused to comment when asked if Azmin would be challenged in the election.

Anwar announced his decision to contest on Sunday (July 15), saying he was going for the post after consulting with PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Azmin.
